The above S-Video to RCA adapter has a MALE S-Video connector (4-pin mini DIN plug) on one end and a MALE RCA (standard a/v phono plug) on the other end. It's available in 1, 6, 12, and 24 ft.
Our "S-VIDEO to RCA" adapter allows you to go FROM your S-VIDEO equipment to your non-S-VIDEO (BNC or RCA composite) equipment or to a coaxial-only TV (click on S-Video to Coaxial below).
S-VIDEO is usually carried on a "4 pin mini DIN" connector. Apple uses a "7-pin mini DIN", now that's thinking a little too different! S-Video is sometimes referred to as "SVIDEO" and "Y/C", and, mistakenly, as "SVHS".
COMPOSITE VIDEO is usually transmitted via a standard "RCA" a/v phono plug - its the video jack that inputs to most devices that accept video, such as TV's, VCR's, LCD projectors and computer video capture cards. In most security applications, a BNC plug is used.
NOTE: If you try to go from Composite Video-to-S-video with a passive cable the color and brightness information will overlap and MAY cuase a checkerboard-like pattern on certain colors or other color interference. The good news is that our adapter does just as good a job as those "converter cables" that sell for 79-99 buckos.
Our adapter is used in many applications, for instance:
- Make presentations using your laptop's S-VIDEO connector. Simply order our Male S-Video to Male RCA adapter - plug the Male S-Video to your laptop and plug the Male RCA to an LCD projector or a TV with RCA a/v phono jacks. Adjust your computer's resolution to 640 x 480 and 256 colors for best results.
- See DVD's from your laptop on your regular TV that has standard RCA a/v phono jacks or coaxial cable.
- Connect your DVD player to your regular TV with RCA a/v phono jacks or coaxial. Use the S-Video-out jack of your DVD and connect it to your regular TV!!! With our S-Video to RCA adapter you can use the "S-Video" jack on your DVD to IMPROVE the picture, instead of using RCA-to-RCA cables! In addition, the adapter allows you to use either the S-Video jack or the RCA jack from the DVD player - send the signal to different TVs at the same time, without having to get a splitter that degrades the quality.
- Connect your camera's S-Video output to your TV or video capture board.
- Connect the S-Video output from your computer's video capture board to a regular TV/VCR that has standard RCA a/v phono plugs.
